Mustafizur umpires’ nightmare too

Mustafizur Rahman’s incisive bowling is not only troubling the batsmen in the IPL, but it’s causing problems for the umpires too.

Some of the umpires, officiating in the tournament, revealed that the excessive movement off the pitch is making it difficult to adjudicate leg before decisions.

With Mustafizur sticking to a middle-leg stump line of attack, these umpires say some of the deliveries are really tough to judge as they do not give a clear picture whether the ball is missing the leg or not.

“He has a plenty of variations and can move the ball at will. He can also bowl very effective cutters and his general line is either off-side or leg-stump. He isn’t a middle-stump bowler,” a match official explained it to TOI on Thursday.

Even his teammates struggle to pick his deliveries during nets. Tigers’ opener Anamul Haque Bijoy has said that he has been playing Mustafizur for the past two years but the left-arm quick still has all the Bangladeshi batsmen guessing.

Apart from his swing and deadly cutters, Mustafizur bowls his yorkers at around 140 km/hr, which makes him really special.
